About Miss Amy

Hi!

I’m a mum of 2 boys, a teacher, a family support worker and a parenting coach. I am passionate about meeting you where you are on your parenting journey and helping you find practical, respectful and evidence-based solutions that support you and your children.

My story…

I grew up on the Central Coast of New South Wales and come from a diverse, multicultural background. After studying politics and international relations at university, I was lucky to get a job working for a grass roots children’s and youth charity in Surry Hills. This is where I started working with families facing significant life challenges, which often included complex trauma and serious financial disadvantage. Our aim was to provide these children and families with holistic and practical services that addressed their current needs as well as providing ongoing, targeted family support and parenting solutions. During this time, I was also able to continue my education and complete my Diploma in Primary Education.

For the past 15 years, I’ve worked within the local community with a passionate focus on quality provision of child and youth services, supporting families and advocating for equality and support within housing, education, healthcare and the justice system.

More recently, I’ve introduced into my work the concepts of complex childhood trauma and the neurological impact that this can have on the brain, which often deeply affects both learning and parenting.

Today, I facilitate a range of emotional intelligence parenting workshops, offer one-on-one support and personalised parenting programs for families. I also train and mentor staff in the areas of emotional intelligence and trauma informed principles and how best to work with children and families from complex or diverse backgrounds.
